The course is based on two main educational study methods: we will have lectures from expert epileptologists and working groups with tutors. Main topics will cover: semiologic characteristics of different types of epileptic seizures, utilization of Video-EEG, notions of anti-epileptic drug pharmacodynamics and kinetics, alternative treatments, role of epilepsy surgery, especially of the resective type, and of Vagal Nerve Stimulation and Deep Brain Stimulation, focus on emerging genetic aspects of drug resistant epilepsies.

Who

  1. 1.Specialists in neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, pediatric neurology, pediatrics, clinical neurophysiology and psychology are welcome to apply. The course is limited to a maximum of 36 applicants to allow an optimal level of interaction with the faculty members. Main output of this course will be widening the knowledge of drug resistant epilepsies all over and build a network of young people coming from around the world that might work together in the future.

Where

Tagliacozzo is a town in the district of L'Aquila, Abruzzo, central Italy. It is an ancient village surrounded by mountains. 

The Course is held in the St. Francis Convent and it was built in 1115. The cloister has wall paintings that describe the life of St. Francis.
